Lifestyle

What is it Lifstyle?

A questionnaire that maps children's broader lifestyle. Think of themes such as screen time, sleep habits, nutrition and overall wellbeing. This module is currently in development.

Why does this matter?

Lifestyle is the context in which all other areas of development take place. A child who doesn't get enough sleep performs worse in school and is less physically active. A child with unhealthy eating habits is at greater risk of overweight. And excessive screen time often comes at the expense of outdoor play and active movement. Yet lifestyle is rarely tracked structurally in schools, while it is precisely the factor that influences all other components.

What are the risks of an unhealthy lifestyle?

The consequences of an unhealthy lifestyle at a young age are significant and wide-ranging. Insufficient sleep leads to concentration difficulties and irritability. Unhealthy nutrition contributes to overweight and low energy. Excessive screen time reduces physical activity, social interaction and sleep quality. These factors reinforce each other: a child who sleeps poorly moves less, eats less healthily and spends more time behind a screen. The sooner you make these patterns visible, the sooner you can intervene.

What will it deliver?

Insight into lifestyle factors that directly affect children's physical and mental development, but that currently often remain out of sight. At group, school and district level, patterns become visible that help shape prevention policy.

Expected connections

Lifestyle is the connecting link between all other components. Screen time and sleep habits affect fitness and physical activity levels. Eating habits are linked to biometrics. And overall wellbeing can be connected to movement anxiety and sports participation. By adding lifestyle to the full picture, the most complete view of a child's development emerges.

Coming soon!

We expect to offer this module from the next school year onward. In the meantime, we are working hard on development.
